Community Classes in Capoeira
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form which fuses dance, martial art and music. Developed in the 18th Century by African slaves in Brazil, Capoeira was a means for slaves to preserve their culture and overcome oppression.
This culturally rich art form is an exciting way to engage children, young people and adults in structured physical activity. Classes will help participants develop their fitness and co-ordination as well as increasing confidence and self-esteem.

Beginner Capoeira Courses
Our short beginner courses are designed to give an insight into the movement, music and culture of capoeira. No matter what your fitness level, experience or age if you are intereseted in finding out what its all about then this course is for you. The course fee is payable at the first session. Capoeira Kids!
Capoeira is a great way to get children and young people active in a fun, playful and exciting way and we are pleased to deliver weekly sessions as part of our Capoeira Kids! project. Sessions include movement, dance, playing music, singing and learning about Brazil.

Brazilian Music Workshops
Our Weekly Brazilian Music Workshops focus on traditional song, ensemble skills and technique on the Berimbau, Congas/Atabaque and Pandeiro for Brazilian styles including Capoeira, Samba and Candomble. We also host guest workshops with specialist artists from around the UK and abroad. Contact us for more information about guest workshops.
Participants should have some musical experience. Please contact us if you are interested in taking part.
